03 // ABOUT
I take every project to heart - from reading the first script and hearing the beginnings of a score in my head, to trading ideas with the creative team, and bringing the music to life. I love the possibilities at the beginning, the unexpected discoveries we make along the way and it all coming together to support the story in the end. It’s what puts batteries in my back.

Biography
Adam King is a Toronto-based composer and producer whose recent work includes Netflix’s breakout hit Crew Girl, which climbed to No. 1 worldwide within days of its release. His career spans over 100 episodes of original television scores, platinum-certified pop, and award-winning independent records.
For MGM+’s sci-fi drama Earth Abides, created by Todd Komarnicki (Sully), King collaborated closely with Komarnicki and the production team to develop a fresh, unexpectedly warm musical approach to post-apocalyptic science fiction. He composed the series’ original score and main title music, earning a Canadian Screen Music Award nomination for Best Original Main Title Theme Music.
He also scored all seasons of the internationally beloved Canadian comedy series, Kim’s Convenience, weaving hip hop drums & textures into musical vignettes that captured the rhythm of its Toronto setting.
Adam’s background in songwriting, production and mixing has taken him across rock, folk, pop, jazz and hip hop, developing an ear for the details that give an artist—or a story—its own musical identity. King co-wrote and produced Ria Mae’s platinum-certified and Socan #1 award winning single “Bend,” and co-produced and mixed the Good Lovelies’ self-titled, JUNO Award-winning album.
He also co-wrote and produced “Northern Lights” for Cider Sky, the vocal duo of Canadian hit songwriter Simon Wilcox and Emmy-winning songwriter and composer Shridhar Solanki. Featured on the gold-certified soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, the single’s viral success led to an ongoing creative collaboration.
King's scoring combines the expressive range of orchestral textures with the exploratory possibilities of electronic production, drawing on his background in record production and alternative pop where the story calls for it. Instruments that he performs and transforms in the studio give his scores a personal signature: vocal textures, piano, guitars, strings and percussion become starting points for sounds that range from intimate and familiar to novel and unexpected. Each project takes its own direction, developed in close collaboration with the creative team and shaped by the emotional world of the story.
